The J. Paul Getty Museum at the Getty Center features works of art dating from the eighth through the twenty-first century, showcased against a backdrop of dramatic architecture, tranquil gardens, and breathtaking views of Los Angeles. The collection includes European paintings, drawings, sculpture, illuminated manuscripts, decorative arts, and European, Asian, and American photographs.

First of all, we can see that there are many irises in the work. And there are many small plants in front of and behind the iris, so it is not difficult for us to find that this is actually a garden. And then we start analyzing this work, which is his usual oil painting technique, the cropped composition is divided into broad areas of bright colors, and the huge iris overflows its border. Each of Vincent van Gogh’s irises is unique. He carefully studied their movement and shape, creating a variety of curvilinear silhouettes bounded by wavy, twisting and curling lines.Vincent van Gogh chose to enter a French asylum after suffering several self-harms. There, during the last year before his death, he produced nearly 130 paintings. Within the first week, he started making irises, drawing inspiration from nature in the shelter’s garden.

after the J. Paul Getty Museumclosed as the city follows stay-at-home orders,But that hasn’t stopped people from engaging with — and using their own bodies to recreate — works by Old Masters and contemporary artists alike.

The rules are simple: choose a work of art, then find three items around you to recreate it.
