What is optical fiber end cap?

An optical fiber end cap is a device that is used to terminate the end of an optical fiber. It is typically a cylindrical object that has a lens on one end and a connector on the other. The lens is used to focus the light that is emitted from the fiber into a beam, and the connector is used to attach the fiber to another fiber or to a device such as a transmitter or a receiver.

There are a number of different types of optical fiber end caps, and each one has its own set of benefits and drawbacks. Some of the most common types include the FC connector, the ST connector, and the SC connector.

The FC connector is a type of optical fiber end cap that is used to terminate single–mode optical fibers. It is a bayonet–style connector that has a locking mechanism that ensures a secure connection. The FC connector is often used in telecommunications applications.

The ST connector is a type of optical fiber end cap that is used to terminate multimode optical fibers. It is a twist–on connector that has a locking mechanism that ensures a secure connection. The ST connector is often used in telecommunications applications.

The SC connector is a type of optical fiber end cap that is used to terminate multimode optical fibers. It is a snap–on connector that has a locking mechanism that ensures a secure connection. The SC connector is often used in telecommunications applications.
