Hear Discussion on Civic Action Education From Teachers Featured in “From Inquiry to Action”
Want to hear outstanding educators discuss civic action education? Tune in to Paul Allison’s Google Hangout Wed. May 18, 8:00–9:00 Central time, at http://edtechtalk.com/ttt . Paul has invited me along with Elizabeth Robbins (history teacher who now promotes student voice and civic engagement with Chicago Public Schools), Jill Bass (Director of the Center for Action Civics at the Mikva Challenge, a great Chicago education non-profit), and Brad Latimer (math teacher at the Science Leadership Academy in Philadelphia) to talk about our work on this important educational effort together.
We’ll see if all three of these folks can join in. But even if they cannot, all are featured in From Inquiry to Action, where you can learn from their deep experience as classroom teachers.
Meanwhile, a request for classroom and after-school club stories
This blog will begin featuring additional accounts of teaching with social action. Or perhaps you have questions about how to get civic action education projects going in your classroom. I — and others who guide this kind of work — want to help. So share your story or your question with me on my Facebook page.
