Mondegreen

--

noun

  1. a misunderstood or misinterpreted word or phrase resulting from a mishearing of the lyrics of a song.
  2. 1950s: from Lady Mondegreen, a misinterpretation of the phrase laid him on the green, from the traditional ballad ‘The Bonny Earl of Murray’.

When the neocortex of our brain still has the possibility to make cognitive interpretation errors from a song that consists of language and melody, then I think it will be very normal if we also often experience confusion when interpreting one’s emotions (complex chemical reactions which originate from the limbic brain) cognitively.
