That is how they’ve been greeting and responding to each other here. I initially thought the ‘I wish you the best’ was just one person, but it’s an actual thing. Lol.

I don't want to ever get to a point when I don't go to church. That fellowship keeps me. I mentioned in my last post that I'm not feeling very hyped about the new year, but did I go for the Overture (that's the watch night service in my local assembly)? I did. Let it not be heard that Tarila is too big to fellowship with her siblings in Christ

We said happy new year and I burst into tears. Hot tears. It’s not my first New Year’s away from home, but home is usually right there. I’m happy to have spent the time with my siblings in Christ but I still want my mummy and daddy. Gosh.

After service, I burst into another round of tears. I pride myself in my easy adaptation, but there’s definitely still a place for homesickness.

As a Nigerian, 'where are you from?' is such a great conversation starter. If you are now Ijaw from Ondo state like me, get ready to school a few people on a brief geography. Be grateful for those who know and accept the coconut heads that want to stand on the fact that you are Yoruba

Contagious excitement

I love seeing people excited about what they do. Like you can feel the love for what they do emanate from them. It’s always so beautiful. Or people that really like something, like classical music (big shout out to Iyebiye). And you can tell that they know what they are saying and they love it.
I can’t relate to your love for that thing but I love that you love it so much.

Friendship Jackpot

I definitely won the friendship jackpot. God, thanks. You know how people say their parents prayers are covering them? I strongly believe that my friends prayers are also covering me. These people prayed for me when I was moving here and I see their prayers answered

God saw me, and blessed me with great friends. Thank You, God.

My new unit has been so chilled. Omg. I can put my phone on silent and not worry. Thank You, Jesus. Ah. This chilled life is so great. I love it. I feel like I'm adding weight sef😂😂😂😂

Tattoos

I think tattoos have a short shelf life. They start getting uncool with age. Like once people start wrinkling (which you will), the tattoos will start looking meh. Some are not even fine without wrinkling. They are nice but nah

Jesus is coming soon.

Let it not be heard that I did not tell you. Of course this should not cause fear. It's a good thing. I mean, Jesus is coming again!!!! This should make you very happy. You get to come face to face with the subject of your worship. Whoosh!!!
The one who became man to save you. The fact that salvation has been God's plan from the beginning is the best thing ever. Dey always burst my brain. I stan a proactive God!

Vegetables, yuck!

Vegetables have no place in rice/spaghetti. Carrots and all those green green things. You can eat them separately but not cooked (I won’t eat them separately). You will be enjoying life then go and be eating tasteless/unrelated taste in your food. Mtcheew

Was I not just saying I've been chilling? Work don start oh. Omg. I was on my feet for most of the day. My consultant here got the bright idea to call me 'welder' as a nickname, man I'm too hungry to take a joke. Don't play with me. I missed breakfast because of you. This is my call week, God be with me.

Snake swallowed money

You know how you see news that snake swallowed money or that someone embezzled money but it just seems far off, you can’t really pinpoint what could have been different if that money was not embezzled. Well, this one touch me. Remember that Christmas party I spoke about, the whole quarters was gifted a million naira. Tbh, I thought they’d use the money to tackle some of the problems we have in the quarters like get a new generator or a new water tank. Only for them to give a breakdown wey I no understand.

Ortho bro

It’s so cool to go to work without my stethoscope. I’m an ‘ortho bro’ now. Lol (blame IG for the Ortho bro caption abeg😂😂)

When I was in General surgery, I needed my stethoscope to listen to bowel sounds often (other things no too concern me). But here, no more stethoscope. So cool

I dey find money abeg. Make no body stress me this week.

I’ve had awesome chiefs so far and I’m grateful for it.

Also, you know how excited you get to see someone you’ve not seen in a while and you give them a big hug when you see them again. It’s kinda sad that we can’t do that here😂😂😂. You no fit just jump and hug your chief. Anyhoo, still very happy to see you sir.
