Israel’s Treatment of Palestinians is Apartheid

Numerous scholars, politicians, historians, and human rights activists have criticized Israel’s treatment of Palestinians as apartheid. Some of the notable figures who have used the term “apartheid” to describe Israel’s policies towards Palestinians include.

Nelson Mandela did not formally call it apartheid (maybe he did, but I cannot find a source), besides he spoke out for the Palestinian cause in a time when the hope was at the highest level for attaining peace and a two-state solution. The late former President of South Africa, who himself fought against apartheid, has criticized Israel’s treatment of Palestinians. One notable source is his address at the International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian People in 1997. Imagine if he was alive today, how he would be talking today.

Desmond Tutu: The South African Archbishop and anti-apartheid activist has been vocal in condemning Israel’s policies towards Palestinians as apartheid. 22 years ago he wrote in the Guardian a piece Apartheid in the Holy Land.
