I am a Woman. You are a Trans Woman. And That Distinction Matters.

Liberals and feminists are taking a lot of blame nowadays, but I distinctly remember conservatives using biology to defend their religious view that “God created man and woman.” God intended sexual orientation and gender identity to be binary. The right’s view has been fought against fervently for so long, I believe that is where the discussion became unhinged in the liberal and feminist movement.

Before this article, the message I have been constantly reading is “trans women ARE WOMEN.” You are wrong and a bigot to think otherwise.

I care deeply about women’s rights and the rights of the LBGT community. I am concerned about this lack of empathy and intersection for all of our rights. Are we supplanting each other? If I support your cause, am I going to continue to be treated poorly? Will my cause be subverted?

There are distinct and unquestionable differences in life between cis and trans women. Declaring that all women are the same is disingenuous.

I have seen several counter arguments stating that cis genders are privileged. But there are many trans women who have lived into adulthood as privileged cis men.

One clap, two clap, three clap, forty?

By clapping more or less, you can signal to us which stories really stand out.
