AI approaches and the future it brings

Artificial Intelligence has become one of the most discussed technology topics of the year. According to Accenture, AI can double the annual economic growth rates of 12 developed economies by 2035.
Many talk about it, but what is it and what does it really mean in practice? It is a set of methodologies that aim to enable computers to learn and act on their own without the help of humans. Machines, that can be associated with improved human minds, having only the necessary skills. Let’s discuss the three major approaches to AI.
- Machine learning: Usually computers must be programmed by engineers to perform every function we can do with them. However, in machine learning, the computer applies the algorithms to large data sets to perform a task such as imagine recognition. Other examples include the ability of software to understand human speech in real time and recognize objects from data transmitted to it from cameras or sources, making it a functional on-its-on machine.
- Neutral networks: Human brains interconnect through neurons, similarly this approach involves interlinking large numbers of computing processors.
- Deep leaning: This is a complex form of the network that involves different layers of powerful processors. It is applied in a way where the first layer performs part of the task and then passes the data down to the next layer in the processors. An example would be recognizing an object where the first layer finds the shape and the next layer the color.
The purpose of AI is to replace some of the tasks performed by humans, primarily in the factories and work that requires repetition and high precision. One day they might be unrecognizable from humans as now they are already used in image recognition, speech recognition and language translation. AI plays a big role in the mobile services, allowing them to be smarter and richer. Such are understanding consumer behavior patterns, personalization and targeted advertising.
What is next for AI? Decision-making and prediction. The smart agents will be able to build complex consumer profiles based on behavior and context. The impact it will have on humans and our work is inevitable and many jobs will be then replaced or enforced by AI. We have the ability to participate in the rise of the machines but as Says Miralles says, “In the future, artificial intelligence will be in more and more things. It serves capitalism and the efficiency of our own lives. As long as that partnership is in balance, it will move forward.”
