A JOLLY GETAWAY IN SALALAH, OMAN

Lush green areas, breezy coastal and only 2 hours away from Dubai? We’re talking about your next Salalah holidays, which is Oman’s best kept secret.
If you ever talk to any Omani, you’ll sense the patriotism they have for their country. Dubai day trippers, may have got the chance to experience the turquoise watered Musandam or may have been to Muscat for the ancient history that it has. But all during the summers, or during Eid maybe, right? While the summer is scorching in most of the cities of Oman, not many know that Salalah is relatively cooler than the rest of it, primarily because of its location. The temperature barely reaches 30 degrees Celsius because it’s a lush green paradise, no jokes guys!
The Khareef season in Salalah is said to end in September, which means it’s the right time for you to head here and enjoy the landscapes. During this time, you will be able to see the capital of Salalah, Dhofar coming alive with the overflowing streams, waterfalls and ripping plantations. There are cheap flights to Salalah Oman on frequent basis, which means visitors don’t have to wait for availability of the flights and neither about the price of the ticket because it’s affordable. The flight time is approximately 1 hour and 55 minutes. Unfortunately, Salalah cannot be reached via car from Dubai because it’s on the other side of Oman.
Things you can do during your Salalah Tours:
- Visit The Sultan al Qaboos Mosque

Salalah is said to be the birth place of the Sultan of Oman, that is why you could say that this mosque is the pride of the city of Salalah. The mosque is said to have shady arches, gardens and you might end up getting a neck ache looking at the chandeliers inside the mosque.
Visitors need to dress up appropriately.
2. Learn about the history of the Al Hafah Souk

This souk may look small and not look like something of paramount importance, but it is the right place to discover Salalah’s long history that has been associated with frankincense. The people of Oman have harvested frankincense in the capital city of Dhofar for over years and you’d witness the locals selling these outside the shops in huge packets that are separated by their quality and fragrances.
3. Enjoy at Wadi Darbat

A stunningly beautiful oasis in the amidst of the Dhofar Mountains gives visitors a chance to gaze at the waterfalls and the streams that carve the oasis. Large fig trees have been said to root these wadis and herds of donkeys and camels are roaming freely, all of them soaking the best of the Khareef season.
You can also enjoy a splash in the rock pools in the wadi. Visitors can also enjoy many boat rides like Power boat and paddle boats.
4. Feel the breeze at Mughsail Beach

For some epic views, head towards the Mughsail Beach. During the Khareef season, you can experience strong winds and currents in the water which makes it unideal to swim. But the sand filled beach and turquoise waters will blow your minds away.
5. Explore the Moon Mountains

Take a scenic route to the Moon Mountains or what is famously known as Jabal Al Qamar. It is said to be the highest mountain range of the area and it is named Jabal Al Qamar because centuries ago the tribes living here believed that it was the closest you could be to the mountains.
