Kazbegi is also known as Stepantsminda and is also a small-town in the north-east Georgia, which is closer to the Russian border.

Kazbegi has been rated as one of the most beautiful destinations of Georgia mainly because of its amazing hiking routes and stunning nature.

How to reach Kazbegi from Tbilisi?

- You can take a local shuttle, which is active once in every hour from the Didube Station of Tbilisi to the main square in Kazbegi. The total travel time is around 2 hours and would cost your around USD 4.

  • If you’re not comfortable traveling this way, then you can choose a private taxi that would cost you around USD 50.

Kazbegi is a one-day trip, but it is strongly suggested to stay overnight as the place is filled with many activities to be done. The temperature is extremely chilly ranging from 10 degrees to 20 degrees Celsius.

If you’re planning to stay there overnight, then there are 2 options — either you can choose a hostel or a hotel. The normal price of the hotels is around USD 120 per night on double sharing basis.

Even if you’re budget is less than that, you can plan to visit the hotel for a lovely dinner night.

THINGS YOU CAN DO IN KAZBEGI

1. Visit the Gergeti Trinity Church.

The church that was built in the 14th century and is located around 1,800 meters above the sea level. To reach up the top of the church you can either climb up or take a horse ride which would cost you around USD 22. The ride may not be easy, but will surely be memorable.

2. Gveleti Waterfalls

It is located around 7km from Kazbegi, and in the middle of this valley lies a couple of nice waterfalls that are called Gveleti.

3. Town of Kazbegi

A dozens of historical locations can be found here in the town of Kazbegi which is found right in the center of the town. The Alexander Kazbegi Statue can be found on Kazbegi’s main square, followed by the Archangel Gabriel Church. This town is also famous for Kazbegi Museum.

Bonus tip: On your way back to Kazbegi, stop to taste the authentic Georgian dish which is called Khinkali — a Georgian styled dumpling or momo.

Gudauri, is the best ski resort in Georgia and is one of the largest with a developed infrastructure with unlimited opportunities for ski-touring and free riding across the country. It’s like SNOW everywhere!

The season of Gudauri begins in late December to and last approximately till the end of April.

The Gudauri resort is the highest settlement on the Georgian Military Road that is at an altitude of 2000m.

· How to reach Gudauri from Tbilisi?

It takes approximately 2 hours to reach Gudauri from Tbilisi.

The cheapest option that we can suggest you is to take the local mini-bus which is the marshrutka from the Didube bus station of Tbilisi.

From the Didube station, ask someone for “marshrutka do Gudauri” and you will be directed to the right area. The ride would cost you around USD 3.

Another easier option but a bit expensive is the taxi, which would cost you around USD 40 for just one trip.

Gudauri can be thoroughly enjoyed in a day but it is more advised to stay overnight to experience the nature and snow as the temperature ranges between 1 degree Celsius to 5 degrees Celsius.

You can rent your ski gears which would cost you around 80 USD which is honestly cheap. The tickets to the mountain peak is cheap too.

3. Take a horseback ride to explore the vast landscape of the Caucasus region.
