Did you know that Telegram’s default settings allow anyone (without limitation) to “see” your phone number?
You may not want your phone number to be made known to internet strangers who are fellow members of public Telegram “channels” which you may have joined.
To hide your phone number, click on “Settings” → “Privacy and Security” → “Phone Number” and select “Nobody” under “Who can see my Phone Number?” (see screenshots below)
For added privacy, you may wish to also:
- set “Last Seen Online” to “Nobody”
- chose “My Contacts” under “Who can find me by my number”.
