2nd Amendment Sanctuary is the Gateway Drug To the Militia Movement

In 1985 I was a high school in a sleepy little town in Northwest Kansas where nothing much happened of note apart from Friday night High School football games. But in late August of that year my little town somehow got drug into the story of a Neo-Nazi Death Cult 255 miles away in a place no one had ever heard of before called Rulo, Nebraska.

As part of that investigation, Federal law enforcement visited my little county and raided an underground bunker stocked with illegal weapons that no one was supposed to be able to have in 1985. But, along with that strange news of a bunker in the middle of a cow pasture full of guns there were also explosives, dead bodies, Nazi literature (and gold bars?).

We later found out about the affiliation of all the Rulo parties to the murder case and the people in the bunker in my tiny little corner of Kansas. They were all members of a group called the “Posse Comitatus” which loosely translated means “the power of the County.”

There were lots of rumors about the “Posse”. Most of them centering on them being former KKK members or Nazis preparing for the inevitable “race war” that they expected to be coming at any moment. They were “anti-tax” and there were rumors that they were financially ruined by making bad bets on their agriculture and somehow blamed government and banks (because banks were run by Jews).
