NEW YORKERS PLEASE READ
“Oh, Minions of the Great & Terrible, Wonderful Tad:
“Can y’all ask any NYC friends to get out the word on this?
“My cello was stolen yesterday in Williamsburg.[From his front hall!] It’s a 5 string cello with magnetic pickups you can see in the photo. The label says Rufus Cappadocia New York. No one will ever be able to play this in public. No one else would even know how to play it. Any ideas on where to look would be greatly appreciated.”
“I am so sad. I miss my cello. I found it in the garbage on St Mark’s place 25 years ago. I had it recarved inside for tone and it was missing a neck. I put a 5 string neck on it and revarnished it myself with an oil varnish after stripping off the alcohol varnish that had a brittle sound. It has been all over the world with me. It is me. A part of my soul is floating around NYC. There is so much magic in that cello that it will make someone sick if they try to keep it. I need it back. My head hurts.”
