I tend to agree with the article. I wanted to go into the movie hating it because it looked like Lin was just using the Enterprise as just another Fast and Furious car crash. Captain Putz gets a lot of his crew killed and ship destroyed for no good reason. Then, as in spoiler above, we learn that they were ambushed by someone who know the Federation inside and out and had been planning the attack for almost a century. As for the characters, the chemistry we expect between the three main people is finally coming together. I still have a problem with emotional Spock, though. It’s a bit jarring.
