Netiquette. It is something you know…or you should go learn it.
What is Netiquette? A simple google search define netiquette as both common courtesy and unwritten rules on the internet. In this blog I will list my top 6 netiquette that every one should follow and practice.
1. Use proper language: In many cases, a lot of people simply don’t check their grammar/spelling mistakes before posting their blogs, comments or documents. Having something posted on the internet where almost everyone in the world can see it is crucial to check and double check your work before uploading it online.
2. Support/Justify your opinion: A lot of the times many arguments on the internet starts with an ambiguous or controversial comment or posting. These all can be avoided by simply supporting your opinion with some facts or with further explanation.
3. Read all comments/replies before you do: This simply means that before you start participating in an online discussion, make sure that what you are planning to say will contribute to the topic.
4. Don’t type in all CAP: writing/reading over the internet can be difficult and a lot of the times it is very hard to determine the tone of the writer. Because of this writing in all CAP can lead to readers thinking writer is angry or raising their voice when they use CAP.

5. Respect and recognize diversity: Internet today can be accessed through out the world and at any given time anyone around the world can be in the same chat or post you are in. Because of this we have to respect others that doesn’t speak the same language, or share the same believes as us.

6. Control your temper: Many times when discussing different topics online it will lead to arguments. In many cases it is because both parties believe they are correct. At times it may be difficult to convince the other person that you are correct. During this time, it is very important to remain calm and relax, this is because when you start to lose your temper, the discussion will start to diverge and lead you into saying things that isn’t related to the topic and eventually leads to you losing the argument. When you feel like the discussion is going toward that direction you should relax and walk away from the computer and gather yourself before coming back the discussion.
After all, just because you are on the computer and you’re not talking to the person in real life, you’re still interacting with a real person. Try to keep these netiquettes in mind when talking online, you will start to have meaningful discussions and gain insight from others.
