I appreciate your exploration of your own emotional landscape, and I agree that the term “depression” is often an imperfect way of medicalizing a natural reaction to the trauma of the world, and doesn’t always fit within an individual’s experience or identity. However on a personal note: I hope you know that you don’t have to feel “that bad” in order for your feelings to matter, and to be important. You don’t have to be suicidal to deserve care, or for it to be important that you feel unhappy. I used to struggle with that, with feeling like I wasn’t “sick” enough to be allowed to feel bad, or to be allowed to need support.
