Sand on the Beach

I was once just a particle of the sand on the beach. My purpose was to keep the surrounding particles together so they would not wash away. It wasn’t nearly enough to keep the entire beach intact, but it was all I had the power to do. If every particle was serving their purpose too, there would never be beach erosion.

One day a great wave came and washed the beach away because individual particles lost sight of their purpose and by default, the collective purpose was lost. Yet even though we all perished, I still continued on into further dimensions with personal assurance that I have done all that I should have (and more), and will continue to do so whether I am a particle of sand, or even grander- a human being.
