How to be trusted
The key to being trusted is to trust first. By eliminating one’s prejudices or fronts in order to trust first, the other party recognizes the opening and recipriocates; the relationship becomes less of an arm’s race and more of a seamless exchange. In other words, by eliminating one’s own ego, one compels others to eliminate theirs.
The second key is to overshare. Undersharing is a sign of ego; that the self can handle the situation better or more effectively than others. One of the best answers one can have is — “I don’t know”. Furthermore, the faster one recognizes one doesn’t have all the answers, the faster one can enable others to help with the problem as well.
The third key is to communicate simply. Complex communications confuse the issue and points; the listener ends up not undertanding the response. This lack of understanding results in feelings of intentional confusion, when not.
