How to manage stress

One tactic that helps me is knowing that I can always break away. At any time where the stress is too great, I have the power to stop and pause. I don’t have to be involved with the stress if I choose not to be.
The second tactic is then finding an activity that takes me away from stress, even for a short amount of time. Some people try sports or reading; the point is to find a something that is not self-destructive, but gives the mind space to process the situation in a different way.
The last, and I think most powerful tactic, is knowing that everything is solvable and temporary. There may be stress now, but in 2 weeks, 2 months, or even 2 years, that stress will be a mere blip in my human existence.
