What do you fear? The fear of falling is what makes you unbalanced. Face it.

Fear is a feeling induced by perceived danger or threat. -dict.
Fear is a vital instinct. Fear is a necessity. Fear is a limit. Fear can mean the difference between greatness and mediocrity. You can stay alive with fear. But you can’t feel alive without understanding and overcoming your fears.
I could mention a whole bunch of successful people who realized and understood what they fear, why they fear it and could take that leap of faith to start to overcome it. Only I never could attach to these examples when I read about fear. However, I could attach to my own examples. My own fears. Be it a family-, love-, work-, sport- related anxiety, these examples were — and are — the real ones.
The day-life fears that are clouding my days.
We have such a great fear of our demons, we unknowingly force ourselves to acclimate to them.
When was the last time you said to yourself: “Yes, I am afraid of this and that.” How about saying it out loud? The first step to overcome your fears is defining them. Like any problem. I guess you can find many techniques and strategies to do that, I use my own version of Simon Sinek’s The Golden Circle-technique (Why-How-What).
It’s quite simple (piece of paper, pen and mindfulness needed):
- Why do you want to feel different?
- How could your days be better if you overcame your fears?
- What is it that you want to do/have/feel, that you can’t for some reason?
- What is that reason?
- What would say to your present self in 10 years, if you didn’t do anything about overcoming this?
- What would you suggest your child/grandchild/friend if you did succeed in conquering your fear and they asked your help?
The questions are obvious, but not easy. We rarely ask these questions ourselves, and even more rarely do we answer them with full attention to ourselves.
The last two questions’ purpose is to see the worst and the best case scenarios.
It is of substantial importance to be aware of outcomes, both negative and positive. If you can’t imagine yourself talking about how you defeat your ghosts, you lack self-awareness. In that case, you have to find your potentials (and that is another topic , which Medium is really helpful at — maybe I will write about that later). It is your own mind that generates fear in you. Hence, it is you who can make it disappear — and no one else.
Take some time out to work on yourself. If you’re “too busy” to do that, you will be busy when happiness asks for an appointment.
We all want a happy life that is rich in experiences, love and joy. Fear is one of the things that limits that happy life if you don’t work on it hard enough. And I mean EVERY. DAY. To make it become a habit, one of the best habits of your life. I mean, come on, you can’t make your demons disappear only on weekends. Maybe your weekends would be ecstatic and you can live your moments fully…(I seriously doubt it, tbh). And what about the weekdays? Half steam, half life.
But oh people, overcoming your fears is something you can call ULTIMATE FREEDOM.

Thank you for reading!
Of course, I still have many fears. But I started to mindfully work on some of them and I am fighting them every day. Well, almost every day. The above mentioned technique works quite fine for me, although I don’t use it in every case. Different situations, different approaches required.
The point of the article is to raise awareness of self-awareness. One huge part of my ongoing self-awareness journey is to face and fight my fears. As a poor philanthropist, writing my experiences down and spreading the word is my way to make the world a better place. By making ourselves a better place.
If you have a story to share or comment on the story, please let me know, let me grow.
