INTRODUCING THE TAKE&TAG APP: SPELLING THE CASE FOR PRIVACY THROUGH GOOD CURIOSITY
At what point do we decide that we as humans are giving away too much in terms of what others know about us? After all, before the advent of Social Media we did not have the constant need to let everyone know what we were getting up to. Privacy is dead was the mantra circa 2004–2009, but with the advent of popular billion dollar apps like SnapChat (hijacked by the 18–25 demographic who were tired of having their mums and dads snooping on their activities), Privacy is staging a comeback and it’s doing it in a really big way.
Privacy is now a trend, a big one for that matter and although this might sound like a pretty huge claim, we believe that there is an opportunity to create something new here.
While privacy is at a hot topic in the Social Media and Cyber world, we believe that there is another trend that people hardly talk about. Social Networking preys on this unobvious trend, a silent trend that plays in the background of privacy. It is a trend that most people would not admit publicly. This trend can be found in our desire to know what is happening in the lives of others. Secretly, we love to know what others are getting up to even if we do not like to admit it to others. Yes! Curiosity is a big trend.
How many times have you wondered what was going on the life of a long lost friend that you have not spoken to in a while?
How many times have you walked past a house in your neighbourhood that has occupants you hardly interact with and you wish you knew more about them?
So here we are with two peas in a pod: Privacy & Curiosity. And while we are not saying one is better than the other, we are just stating our claim for curiosity because our app is built around this trend.
We love curiosity and for us, that is a trend that we are riding on. Our belief is that curiosity is not a bad thing as long as it’s rooted in permission. An example of good curiosity would be: Wanting to know what our parents are up to, because we grew up adoring them, but now that we live thousands of miles apart from each other and the desire to be in the know about what they are doing has never been stronger. An example like this shows good curiosity built on permission. Its non-invasive and trust worthy.
Curiosity pays a big part in what we are creating at take&tag. Curiosity is a good thing if it is balanced. If you are curious (with permission) to know what is going on in the life of your loved ones, then that shows that you care.
So how does curiosity fit into our app, we can easily name a few things where
- Want to share your phone pictures through photo albums with Family or loved ones? We are an app for that.
- Need a solution for searching of pictures on your phone? We are an app for that
- Want to privately share huge loads of pictures without having to upload them from your phone? We are an app for that.
- Want to arrange your pictures by time, date and location where they were taken? We are an app for that.
