The same could be said of movies… you no longer have to go to Hollywood to make movies. The cost of making movies has come down dramatically over the past decade. Aspiring movie makers can make movies in their own garage, on a shoestring budget. Multiple movie-making hotspots have developed around the world, including India, China, and Korea.
Does that mean Hollywood is irrelevant? Nope. The biggest blockbusters and biggest stars still come out of Hollywood. There are alternatives and competitors to Hollywood, sure, but no other place has the concentration of talent, capital infrastructure, culture, etc. that Hollywood has. The same is true for Silicon Valley.
I’m sure Silicon Valley will remain relevant for a long time to come.
