Editing your database.yml file when using Atom

Today I ran into an issue with PostgreSQL, which muttered the following obscenity at me:

…connection_adapters/postgresql_adapter.rb:1222:in `initialize': FATAL:  database "project_development" does not exist (PG::ConnectionBad)

I knew the name of the database in the database.yml file had to match the name of the db in postgres, but I could not find the database.yml file in my directory tree to modify it. After performing the cat(cat .gitignore) and ls config commands, I knew the database.yml file existed in the config folder. I finally stumbled upon someone who had a similar problem, on StackOverflow.

Thus, if you are facing a similar problem, as the answer explains, just go to Preferences > Packages > Tree View and uncheck Hide Ignored Names and voila! You can now edit your database.yml file.

I wrote this to share a new discovery, for me anyway. I know it’s not major, but hopefully I pointed someone in the right direction.

Now you know, and knowing is half the battle! G.I. Jooooooooooooe!!!

Noob out!
