A Normal Day at Commonwealth Avenue, Traffic Jam is a routine on Peak hours.

When you think about the most dangerous roads in the world you might think about the dangerous high altitude passes in Himalayas or roads in extreme weather areas like Alaska or Siberia.

But you would be surprised to know that the most dangerous road in the world is located in the heart of Quezon city, Philippine.

The commonwealth avenue is often called the “Killer Highway” due to the number of fatal accidents involving drivers, cyclists and pedestrians. Traffic rules and road safety regulations are almost non-existent.

The road is 12.4 km long and has 18 lanes, it is the widest road in Philippine.

Although the speed limit of the road is just 60 km/h the congestion and chaotic driving is responsible for 3 to 5 accidents every day.

According to recent research figures almost 7,000 people die annually, most of them are pedestrians, cyclists and bystanders. Despite the high rate of casualties commonwealth avenue is still a vital road and it connects the roads which lead to Marikina, Caloocan, Manila and Bulacan.

The road has no signs to guide the traffic neither are there any designated lanes for motorcycle/bicycle lanes.

Major risks on the road include extremely high volume of traffic, terrible drainage and reckless driving. Another cause of casualties is the fact that whenever an accident happens bystanders and pedestrians start to gather and are often hit by careless drivers.

Public transport is another major cause of accidents as they do not follow any regulations and they will stop to pick up or drop passengers anywhere they like. Even if there are some regulations there is no one to implement them.

There is also the fact that throughout the length of the commonwealth avenue there are numerous crime gangs involved in murder, kidnapping and looting.

Commonwealth avenue is one of the most important important highways of Philippines and Quezon City, residential and commercial building have been built along the road. Many important official buildings are located on the commonwealth avenue like the Sandiganbayan, Philippine Coconut Authority and Commission on Audit.

The commonwealth avenue has many important intersections like the Quezon City Memorial Circle, University Avenue Intersection, Central Avenue Junction, C-5 Interchange, C-5 Alternate Route, Holy Spirit Road intersection and many more.
