Understanding The Car Guy
The world is full of all kinds of people. We keep meeting new people almost every other day. We all have all been puzzled by a certain type of people. In all this mix of people there exist car guys. And just like many others we too are misunderstood by some people. So, today I want to show you car guys for who they are. Before we begin, just take a look at all these beauties below. Just how can one not fall in love with them? Even some non-car guys feel compelled to appreciate them sometimes.
Without any further delay, let’s start our engines and put the pedal to the metal.
1. Treat Our Cars With Respect & Care
As is pretty obvious to us our cars are not ‘just-a-car’. We love them and are pretty much obsessed with them. We spend a lot of our time, effort and money on our cars. So when someone shares our cars with us as passengers or borrows it (if we allow it ). We want them to handle our cars with extreme care. We may even have no food or drinks policy in our cars most of the time. This may sound absurd to some people. But, given what we do for our cars and how much we love them, it is not polite if you do something that might alter the pristine condition our cars in some way.
2. Working On Our Own Cars
You may see us working on our cars very often as mentioned earlier. A number of people when they see this, they jokingly say “Hey, are you a car mechanic or something?” Not realizing that they are being disrespectful and offensive to both car mechanics and car enthusiasts alike. Car mechanics do hours of hard work and deserve every penny of our respect. Also, as car enthusiasts we love spending time with our cars and working on them is the way to do that and express ourselves. Cars are a part of our identity.
3. Non-Car Guys Acting Like A Know-It-All
We have all heard the famous line, “Nobody likes a know-it-all”. In spite of this, there are a number of people who do this. This happens to us too, some non-car guys while conversing with us sometimes start acting like an expert on cars. They would just start forcing what they are saying down our throats. On behalf of the car guys, if you are doing this you are being super annoying and downright offensive. So, please STOP!
4. We Are Not Materialistic
We often hear from other people, “Uh, why are buying such an expensive car? It is just a car to get you from point A to B.” Technically, they are correct. Cars are a mode of transportation. But, is it ok to ask someone to stop doing something they are so passionate about?
Remember, we are not materialistic neither are we are doing what we do to show off. And we are most certainly not trying to compensate for something. Lastly we are not doing it to seek attention. We are doing what we do out of our love for cars and for the experience. Not for anything else. It is understandable to keep budgeting in our minds and not to empty our bank accounts. But, some overspending is okay, we can always cut our expenses elsewhere.
5. Destroying The Environment
It is often pointed out to us that cars are not good for the environment. People would suggest us to buy electric/hybrid cars. I agree cars do pollute a lot but we can still be considerate. Not all car guys buy multiple cars at a time. Like most other people some of us also just buy 1 or 2 cars. And we take great care of our cars in comparison to most non-car guys. This helps with reducing pollution. We are not perfect. But, don’t think that we are not doing anything for the environment. As for electric cars, they are still in the infancy stage in my opinion. And generally, they don’t match our tastes and preferences. So just like other people, we are also not perfect.
Here is to hoping that you would have a better understanding of car guys after reading this.
