Last week I passed my google cloud associate engineer exam and I thought of sharing some of the resources that I used to prepare for it. More importantly, If you are new to cloud platforms then you should follow the systematic order given below

Start by knowing the essentials of Google cloud

Resource: www.coursera.com

Cost: Free

The following courses are recommended by Google to prepare for the exam;

Courses: Google Cloud Platform Fundamentals: Core Infrastructure

Essential Cloud Infrastructure: Foundation

Essential Cloud Infrastructure: Core Services

These courses introduce you to important concepts and terminology for working with Google Cloud Platform (GCP). You learn about, and compare, many of the computing and storage services available in Google Cloud Platform, including Google App Engine, Google Compute Engine, and Google Container Engine. For someone who is new to cloud platforms, these courses are a must.

Designed to help you pass the exam

Resource: www.Linuxacademy.com

Cost: 7 days free trial, student discounts, monthly plan $49

Course: Google cloud certified associate cloud engineer

Once you know the basics, I would strongly recommend taking a hands-on practical course like the one Linuxacademy offers. This course is designed to not only help you pass the Google Cloud Certified — Associate Cloud Engineer exam but also to learn the real-world skills you’ll need to be a cloud engineer. This course loosely follows the domain objectives outlined in the certification info. However, instead of just walking you through each bullet point and showing how that particular item works, without any context, we’ve chosen to use a scenario. One of the main reasons I took this course was for the 2-hour practice exam you get to take at the end of the course.

Get your hands dirty

I took the following courses to practice for the exam. They provided real hands-on experience using google cloud products.

Cloud IAM: Qwik Start — To learn about Identity and Access Management (IAM). It will provide you with in-depth knowledge, especially around the command line.

Take the Set Up Network and HTTP Load Balancers lab and learn about infrastructure tools that might help you build a solution for the Mountkirk Games case study.

Networking 101 and 102 — these two labs will give you hands-on experience in using the Google cloud network infrastructure.

Orchestrating the Cloud with Kubernetes — there is a big focus on Kubernetes related questions during the exam these labs are a sure help.#

Essential reading material
