You realize that it’s not about hitting a goal weight, or lifting a weight. It’s about being able to wait. Waiting, being patient, and trusting that life will slowly inch along and things will eventually get better. After all, change takes time.

That’s the hardest advice to follow. Everywhere you turn people are selling “Lose X in 30 Days!;” “Get Ripped in 90!,” or “How to Stop Being a Flabby Tub of Lard in 4 Easy Steps in 12 Days!” Everything takes time, man. None of us want to hear it or admit it but patience and effort and the most valuable lessons we can learn. Hell, I’m still trying to learn it.
