Probably you have very recently heard the name of this social media, or sometime during searching any product, you landed up on it, right? Pinterest is different than other social media platforms because Pinterest functions more like a search engine. As a visual discovery engine, Pinterest is the only social media platform to offer visual search. Pinterest is a visual social media platform in which users can create and share pins, create boards, and shop.

Pinterest is not a traditional social media like Instagram, Snapchat, Twitter, Facebook, or even TikTok. Pinterest is not so much a social media site as it is more of a visual discovery search engine. Because Pinterest is a search engine,
this means that people go on Pinterest to look up things, look up ideas, or look up solutions. Once the Pinterest user sees an image that they like, they will pin it and keep searching for more.

Pinterest says that Pinterest is really a visual search engine, rather than a social website. As a search engine, Pinterest curates its feed of pins according to what users are searching for, as well as how these key terms are used within pins shared by content creators.

In cases where Pinterest users type a search term, the smart feed of the search engine ranks and prioritizes the pins according to their quality, as determined for them by the Pinterest algorithm. More importantly to your traffic strategy is how the search engine algorithm decides which pins to display to users when they enter a Pinterest search query.

You can also use in-built Pinterest analytics to identify the pins that are trending, you will get a leg up in knowing the types of content that your audience wants to see, helping you to refine your overall Pinterest marketing strategy. With your business account, use analytics to find out what types of products are getting the most “pins” and traffic to your Pinterest pages.

You could hop onto Pinterest now looking for the best shoes to wear in winter, or perhaps an overview of a product you bought, and Pinterest would pull in thousands of pins. For instance, in one of these mostly-untapped social resources users might look up black leather sandals, and thousands of Pins will appear, from fashion brands, online retailers, influencers, fashion magazines, and other Pinterest users.

If a customer is browsing through your site and sees a picture of something that appeals, he can click the Save button and pin it to his or her own substantially un-tapped social resource account or board, meaning that more people will find your products on Pinterest. Users can begin a search on Pinterest, and then head over to your site to learn more. Pinterest users
use the platform to find ideas, hobbies, and images that are interesting to them, according to their hobbies, styles, or other aspects of their lives. As with most other social networks, people on Pinterest are able to perform standard social media functions, such as following their friends, liking and commenting on other users' boards, reposting content on their boards, and sharing it with other media outlets such as Facebook and Twitter, or through email, conducting searches, and even embedding individual pins onto their websites or blogs.

you don't need to have a personal website to sell something now, you can imagine your Pinterest profile as a virtual storefront where your idea pins are highlighted topics to attract people from different categories and then engage them with normal pins — think of this as your products on the store, don't forget to put CTA destination link. With a new algorithm, Pinterest is sending and pushing crazy traffic to idea pins making it one of a kind platform.
