Along comes a startup!
A closer look at growth of startup ecosystem in Iran.
Probably the first spark in our mind after hearing the word “startup” is a bunch of computer geeks and some young guns trying to make billions out of their strange ideas!
This “WAS” pretty much the case in our country! The point is that in a third world country like Iran there is not much of systematic procedure of investment on new ideas made by some unexperienced young fellows! So it will lead active minds to invest more on computer base businesses! Instead of expensive heavy industrial equipment and manufactory spaces all you need is a relatively cheap laptop and a desk to start developing an idea!
Any how, after like two years of major growth in Iran’s startup community; now there is a new organ of this body emerging!
Aside from technological aspects, there are some promising social movements showing up in this roaring machine of startup! Simplicity of the most startup ideas and consideration of commonalty to some real life details which may be hidden to the major society organizers can gear up the slow but in move civil society of Iran!
To get better image of what I am talking about here, let me introduce you to some recent startup events in Iran:
- BefekrShow: A gathering for youth to learn how to think!
- Women Startup weekend: A startup specialized for women to share their Ideas of Entrepreneurship!
- IdeaShowAb: A startup about water resource crisis!
- Tehran’s Green Startup: First startup on environmental issues
As you can witness all of these events are about some critical issues that even governmental organizations come up short to handle them all with the highest possible quality!
So bringing private sector investment on these issues, even if the amount of money is low, will encourage everyone to bring their ideas with less bureaucracy needed in the procedure.
The more ideas, the more possibility of a solution!
So it’s a win win situation, making money, caring society!
Along comes a startup, comes a society!
