I truly tried to make sense of this speech but it was like reading an essay of a 5th grader with no true complete thought or any real message. It’s just a bunch of jabbering with a few key words thrown in the mix to try to appease the crowd such as ‘protest’, ‘change’, ‘peaceful’, ‘challenges’, & ‘democracy’. One thing he said is, “We know our protest — our right to protest — is directly related to the fact that our police protect us, so help me by joining in applause and thanks for the police.” To me, this is such a confusing statement. Is he saying the police are the reason they are protesting or is he saying because of the protesting, the police are related because they have to be there to keep the peace? His entire speech hops around like a wild rabbit as if he’s on Ephedrine & can’t get out a complete thought before moving on to the next & I’ve yet to know what any of truly mean as far as a real purpose.

I find it ironic that the words about the police force were thrown around like seeds thrown to birds when the very officers back in the very city that voted him Mayor was having a ceremony to swear in new police officers. Also, the day before, one police officer was also assassinated on the streets of that city which in this post, he never once mentioned which I’m guessing this includes the entire speech. He should have mentioned her, thanked her for her service & sacrifice, & sent out condolences to her family in that platform that he was given since he was being so disrespectful to be there in the first place & ignore his own officers.

He shoves New York down their throats. He keeps sharing how great the state is or sort of. The statements he makes are how great it is compared to how horrible it once was. ‘And it is the safest it’s ever been, the strongest it’s ever been, and the most prosperous it’s ever been’. He says, “And I offer you, humbly, the example of New York City today because you know, despite all the rhetoric, let me tell you a simple fact about my city — my city is obviously one of the greatest examples of a city of immigrants anywhere in the world.” Yet another sentence that makes absolutely zero sense. What the heck does that even mean? Is he saying they have a lot of immigrants? They have the best immigrants? They are kind to their immigrants? They are more open to allowing immigrants? They have jobs for immigrants? Who the heck knows but whatever it is, they are one of the greatest examples of a city for it.

Another issue I find with constantly building up New York is when he does this, he is really saying Me Me Me. He needs to understand New York is a tiny state that thrives & exists within a huge & incredible country & without the other states, it’s crap. He should have gone in bragging about his country & how great it is, not his state. He only did that because he wanted to really put himself on a pedestal. But this pedestal made he look like a court jester playing the fool for the king in the court. For an American, it was actually quite embarrassing. Next time he feels he needs to build his ego, hopefully he discusses it with others instead of just hops a jet.

Lastly, why wait just 90 minutes before takeoff for Germany before informing anyone about his trip? What was so important that he felt he needed to jet set across the world & attend a protest that wouldn’t affect his political future in the slightest? Let me guess why. Because it’s yet another leader whose hatred & anger over Trump’s victory has blinded him to the very fact that he has forgotten why he is in office to begin with. New York put him in that chair. He need not forget that fact.
