Thank you for joining me for coffee today. I am so glad you are here with me. The summer solstice was Friday and I am more in tune to the cycles of nature lately. It is a day full of sunshine. Today is full of light because we are together.
I am having my regular strong black coffee. My brother used to joke I liked mill coffee — dark, strong and puts hair on your chest! What would you like today? I have some iced tea if you like, or do you want something stronger today?
If we were having coffee, I would tell you I wrote every day. I had some excitement in the writing life this week. I was asked to write a blog post for a website. I was honored! You can read that post here.
If we were having coffee I would tell you I am working through my story course. I filled out a questionnaire and received a writing prescription. Short stories to read that are like mine to study. I also got a list of books to read that will stretch me. Such a wonderful gift this is!
If we were having coffee I would tell you I finished a book this week, Way of the Peaceful Warrior.
If we were having coffee I would tell you I am reading Writing Down the Bones with a writing friend and loving the conversations that are coming from these essays. It is a gift to be able to talk about Natalie Goldberg’s words with another writer. I simply cannot get enough of these writing conversations.
If we were having coffee, I would tell you I am being moved from my current position in the middle school back to the elementary. I am going to be coaching the testing grades: 3,4,5 and 6. I was a reading specialist for years and have many years of elementary experience. I did feel like I had some momentum in the middle school but things change. I am excited for some of the opportunities that this change will afford.
If we were having coffee, I would tell you I am still having a book problem. They are stacked up next to the bed and threating to topple over! I need to return some to the library but they are a comfort to have next to me.
If we were having coffee I would tell you I filled another notebook. I do not like the new one I started. I love the llama on the cover but the paper isn’t right and it won’t lay flat.I went the store where my favorite ones are from but they didn’t have them. I went to another store looking for another notebook style I like and luckily they had 2.
If we were having coffee I would ask you what has been inspiring to you this week?
Do you need a refill on your coffee?
If we were having coffee I would tell you I am participating in Kathy Fish’s Fast Flash Reunion Extravaganza and it is awesome. I am generating some interesting stories based on her prompts and able to read drafts from talented flash writers.
Thank you so much for joining me for coffee! I always enjoy our visits and today was no different. Let’s have coffee again soon!
