Weekend Coffee Share

Join me for a conversation and a cup of coffee

Grab a cup of coffee and let’s sit in these comfortable chairs around my oak table and let’s chat! I am having my regular black coffee this morning but I can make you iced coffee if you prefer. Even though it is summer it doesn’t stop me from drinking several hot cups. I think I will bring us glasses of ice water just for variety.

If we were having coffee, I would tell you we tried to make a water balloon slingshot with bungee cords and duct tape. It was a hit or miss success and then we ordered one from Amazon. It worked better but still needs some finesse. We are working on the technique but the kids had fun.

If we were having coffee, I would tell you I love the Youtube Channel TRY. Irish people try all kinds of food and drinks and the reactions are hilarious. In honor of this entertainment, the kids staged their own. We used unusual flavors of Blizzards from DQ. Apparently, there is a sour patch kid blizzard which to me sounds disgusting but ended up winning the overall vote. My children do not like nuts and ice cream I have discovered. The cotton candy blizzard was supposed to be on the original line up but never made it.

If we were having coffee I would tell you a tree fell in the backyard and took the power lines with it. We were out of power for 9 hours. The power company cut my line from the internet. I found this out after 2 hours of trying to get the wifi back up and working. Luckily, they came right on time at 8 am on Saturday. I discovered a lot about myself during the 2 days of no internet. It was not pleasant. #firstworldproblems

If we were having coffee I would tell you I wrote my writing practice every morning. I started my Flash Fiction class on Monday and it has been uplifting. There are talented writers in the class and I am honored to be learning with them. There are lessons every weekday and then feedback from the teacher and fellow classmates. I am happy with 4/5 assignments so far. We will see what happens next week.

If we were having coffee, I would tell you I finished reading a novel this week! Bunny by Mona Awad. It was set in an MFA program for creative writing which is SOOOOO in wheelhouse. I will start by saying I liked it BUT it was on the weird side even for me. There are cliches of writers and one girl on the outside…then on the inside and then things get really weird. I am still not sure who was a real person and who wasn’t in the story. It was captivating, but not for everyone.

If we were having coffee, I would tell you I am running every day. I even did 2–10 milers this week! I am back baby! It feels really good.

If we were having coffee, I would tell you got a fresh start with a new cellphone and a new number! I had contacts in there from 20 years ago. It feels great to start again in this area. Hopefully, it will take the spammers a long time to find my number this time.

If we were having coffee I would tell you I loved this chat with you today! It really is a highlight of my week. What is the best thing that happened to you today?

Happy Weekend!
