I can’t believe what I just read. As a Black American, Africa is our homeland. We can not help that we were disconnected from our culture, we have no idea who our African ancestors were or what tribes we come from. We can not help that we have an innate connection to Africa that springs forth in our music… hip hop, blues, jazz etc. It shows in our fashion choices as well. To compare the appropriation of black culture by whites to blacks wanting to connect to their Africa roots is an unequal fallacy equivalent. Whether you like it or not, we are African. My African ancestors blood flows through my veins… it is in my DNA. Africans also appropriate Black culture, but you will NEVER read a blog post on that topic because it’s a non-issue. I am 40 years of age and I have yet to run across an African who didn’t believe he was better than a Black American. Get over yourselves.
Black America, please stop appropriating African clothing and tribal marks.
