Pitch for Why ethnic studies matter

This topic honestly matters to me because it is pretty difficult for people to accept ethnic studies as a viable field at universities. While activism is one of the most common avocational passions in the US today, I think the lack of education among ethnic, gendered and sexuality studies have provided a larger level of ignorance, even among those who consider themselves activists.

I think it’s important to analyze what ethnic studies provides to universities. Luckily, CSUN is one of the universities that provides a wide-array of ethnic studies, so I can work around researching the socio-historical aspects of the ethnic studies department.

Project-wise, I’d like to focus on what it provides students after college. Not only career-wise but also what graduates experience differently when they have the education compared to not.
