Modes of Transportation

I’ve always been romanced by all kinds of transportation; planes, bikes, trains, trolleys, buses, subways, scooters, and motorcycles. each evokes a different mood and provides a unique experience. on this trip, we rented a vespa to go around SF and Marin the two nights we were there and it was definitely the best decision we made. a scooter embodies mystery, whimsy, and adventure along with riskiness and vulnerability as one is racing along hill and after hill one foot above concrete (and dont tell anyone, but once we didnt wear helmets☺). it was exhilirating to say the least, riding fast into the bracing air, everything we needed on our backs. its an incredible way to see the city easily, turn around for photos, stop for a quick green juice, turn around to buy a homeless woman a taco, feel and be a part of your surroundings, take pictures, get sore legs without doing any real work, get smiles and waves from passerbys and almost die.

dont ask how i took this, just enjoy. my incredibly cool father pictured in front
not our scooter, but a lovely friend ours loved to be parked next to. i think he had a crush
i think this picture was actually taken for the cool guy walking his dog, but hey theres a scooter and a motorcycle too. its a win win win.
yes, we rode across Golden Gate in this thing each night and didnt bat an eye. words could not describe that experience.

the marin headlands hostel—our place of rest
i threw in some car and bus pictures (taken from the scooter) as well, since this post is about transportation
