Why Yamaha motorcycles are so reliable Worldwide?
AMERICA’S Consumer Reports magazine is something of a legend, having been rating products since 1936. And now it’s done its first reliability study on motorcycles.
The study of 4,680 readers’ bikes, all made from 2009 to 2012, put Yamaha on top when it came to reliability, with only one bike in 10 needing repairs. Kawasaki and Honda rounded out the podium.
BMW trailed the pack with a third of the bikes in the survey needing repairs in the four-year period covered.
However, despite the number of bikes surveyed, several manufacturers weren’t sufficiently represented to feature in the results, including Triumph and Suzuki.
- Riding posture or ride quality is enjoyable.
- Best pickup or acceleration in sub 150 cc engines.
- Excellent Road Grip.
- Bike stability at high speed.
- Bike stability during braking.
- Excellent cornering capability.
- If maintenance is done regularly then these bikes last for a lifetime.
A person on quora stated “I’ve crashed on my Yamaha under 5 times in all this time, Riding in and around Karnataka, we know, there are speed breakers (pretty big ones) on highways which are usually unmarked and if you did not anticipate them you’ll catch big air. I’ve been in these situations a few times and all the times the bike held its composure, and didn’t even make me squirm after the second time that happened.”
It always starts up, no matter what
On a cold morning, on a hot morning, after a week just sitting there, after a month just sitting there. It starts up, without any hassle.
According to Consumer Reports Yamaha ranked the most reliable motorcycle with only 11% mechanical failure leaving behind Honda (12 % failure), Suzuki(12 % failure), Kawasaki(15 % failure), Victory(17 % failure) and Harley Davidson(26 % failure) on a four-year-old motorcycle without a service contract.
Due to such high reliability of Yamaha motorcycles, we still see Yamaha motorcycles like RX100 and RX135 on Indian roads.
