Who are you and where do you want to be in 3 years?

Calling all Supermoms – ladies who are great at multi tasking – you have a full time career, you are married or a single mother with small kids at home and you often feel pulled in several different directions. And that is because you often are!

This what your day usually looks like:

Wake up – do your morning toilet routine, get the kids up and out of bed, prepare breakfast, get the kids dressed and down for breakfast, grab lunch boxes out of the fridge (which hopefully you have made the day before), get kids into the bus, grab a quick coffee and chat with hubby then its off to the office where its work, conference calls, meetings and more work.

Mid-day, you head to school for a parents teacher conference and then back to work. At the end of the day, everyone gets together for a meal prepared by the helper (if you are lucky to have one, otherwise its a meal rustled up by good ole you or its take out or delivery), then its homework or family bonding time over a board game, movie or just a walk around the neighborhood.

Some days its off to school after work for games training, weekends are full of sports or other kids related activities and often you flop into bed with barely 10 minutes for yourself. If you are lucky, you have a partner who helps to take up part of the slack.

Every once in a while when you have 5 minutes breathing space, you ask yourself what if there is a better way to live your life. You love your job and the challenges it brings you, but you love your children more.

Do you often wish that you have more time to spend with them, as you often notice, they are growing so quickly that one day, you blink and realize that they are all no longer kids but young adults and you missed their growing years.

Whilst working is great and the extra income is better, don’t you often wonder if there is a happy medium where you can still have a challenging professional life with flexibility of time which allows you to be there for the kids important moments.

I can look back several years ago when I was in the same space, both my husband and I had a full time jobs, we have 3 small children and an elderly parent living with us. With high school fees, living expenses for 6 persons and a helper to help manage the cleaning, we still had to work, cook and spend quality time with the family. Plus I had a side hustle of providing quality food products to a small group of families.

We were busy, no we were super busy and I often saw the kids briefly in the morning before i left for work and when i returned at night, they would already be in bed. I was working in a very busy PR agency that specializes in hospitality and travel clients. We would be busy organizing and hosting events, receptions and seminars for clients, and these would often happen after regular working hours.

I often questioned myself and my life and I bet you have some of these same questions rolling around in your head:

  • I know there must be more out there that I can do, how can I find my way and who can I learn from?

One day will come when you decide to address your questions and situation more seriously and decide to take that first step to making a change in your life situation. That may be the most difficult decision that you will make, it is life changing and should not be made lightly.

You owe it to yourself to review and analyse your life, are you happy? Are you contented? Are you satisfied?

I have my own measuring stick when it comes to making major decisions. I ask myself two basic questions.

  1. Can I continue to do what I am doing now? For the next 3 or 5 or 10 years. Usually my answer would be Yes.

2. The more important question comes next – Do I WANT to continue doing what I am doing? Here is where you have to get real with yourself. This is where you need to step up and make a choice.

Whatever that choice is, once you have made it, accept it and move on. Don’t hesitate, don’t ask yourself “What if”, don’t dilly dally and be wishy washy. Just move on and do it. However if you find too many interruptions popping up, perhaps the universe is giving you a sign that your choice was not the right one for your soul. So maybe its time to stop, review and reboot again.

I have managed to step off that hamster wheel of full time job, full time mom, wife, entrepreneur extraordinaire. I am now consulting for clients of my choosing, working on projects and looking into different opportunities to expand my horizons. I am helping women who are in the same space as I was with to see clarity in their situation, make meaningful decisions and move on to the next stage of their lives.

I have been lucky to have help and support from my family, colleagues and contacts on the emotional level. Professionally I have the platform, tools, teachings and support of my mentors Tony Robbins, Dean Graziosi and the KBB Knowledge Brokers Blueprint community.

To find out more about KBB and how it can also help you on your journey to Learn, Extract, Share and Impact your own life and those of others, message me.

I know there are endless possibilities and opportunities out there waiting for me, everyday I wake up, I step up and continue on the path that I have created for my new life. And the beauty of this is that I get to do it from home or from wherever we happen to be at, vacation in our timeshare in Laguna Phuket, from France or right at this moment from the Gunawarman Hotel in Jakarta.

If you are starting to feel lost, disillusioned, frustrated etc, I suggest that you take a step back and ask yourself the 2 simple questions outlined above. Be honest, be true and be fair to yourself. It is your life after all.

There is no right or wrong answer, sometimes you take a wrong step that leads you slightly astray but as long as you can retrace your steps and make corrections and move again. The key is to plan, take action, adjust and take more action.

Who am I and why should you listen to me? Check out my website http://www.esthertanmolina.com for further details.

Is this for you? No one can answer that question except for you. After all its your life.
