Nationals proved blueprint to postseason success lies in use of pitchers

A clear blueprint to winning the World Series has emerged, and the Washington Nationals executed it perfectly.

It sounds simple, but is easier said than done. Just ask the Dodgers.

The formula goes as follows: teams must build an elite top-three starting pitchers and be willing to use those pitchers on short rest, in any situation, with no questions asked. The Washington trio of Max Scherzer, Stephen Strasburg and Patrick Corbin out-dueled everyone on the way to a championship.
