Using Factor Trees to Find GCFs and LCMs
Brett Berry

If I am trying to find the GCF of 45 and 80 I do not think that this rules applies.

45= 5x3²

80= 2⁴x5

therefore if I am following your rule I would multiply 5x5 getting a sum of 25. That is wrong. It should be 5. Can you explain this to me please?

Thanks Tanya
