I downloaded the online shopping app ZALORA for the first time (I’ve only ever used ASOS) to try it out and see how it affects my mobile shopping experience.
The landing page of the app I felt was brilliant. It had a great use of colour for matching and contrast and the information expressed was BOLD and easy to read. It has a very fresh and modern feel to it which ties in well with the type of clothing that they sell, catering to the younger demographic. Featuring sales and hot selling items on the landing page is a great way to grab the attention of the users who might be just browsing.
The landing page also features on the app like being able to shop by brands or category. An easy way to filter unnecessary items. The aesthetic nature of the app continues on the page.
I proceeded to the menu button on the top left hand corner. A simple and understandable menu which helps the user identify what he or she is looking to buy. The “Login” button is highlighted black at the bottom, effectively prompting the user to login and register an account.
The login page is again simple and straightforward. Additional prompts to registering include the discount tab underneath the password entry. Being able to login with Facebook is a very common and nevertheless convenient way for users to register for accounts quick and hassle-free.
I clicked on the Sales category and was navigated straight into the items page. Again, the design of the layout is very clean and simple, which not only reduces confusion, but also accentuates the clothing items on the page.
I was able to very easily select the size of shoe that I was interested in and have it saved either onto a wishlist or my shopping cart. It was almost instantaneous.
I added the item to my wishlist and it again had only the important information on the page. The top says WISHLIST, identifying to the user clearly which page he or she is on. Additionally I’m presented with the option to change my size in the event that I chose a wrong one. The ADD TO BAG button is highlighted in black to prompt the user very well.
I then proceeded to add the item to my shopping bag. Clicking on the bag brought me to a checkout page which again shows only the relevant information that the user needs to know. The colour tones used are very complimentary and not too contrasting, adding to the easy flow of the app.
My experience with the Zalora shopping app was a great one. I was very surprised with the ease of use and the wonderful aesthetics it had. The flow of the app was very well designed. I was able to navigate from the landing page to the checkout page with an item in mind in less than 2 mins.
