It is cowardly that a variety of people, online and otherwise, are comfortable throwing around insults they might not necessarily be comfortable saying to one’s face — and how this behavior falls disproportionately on women. Same as it ever was.

I believe, more than ever, specific types of threats made online (for example “rape”, “death threats”, intimations that amount to or reference bodily harm) should have actual — legally recognized — consequences. It’s become a primary concern of mine regarding social media. What parameters “consequences” would encompass is something we are going to have to figure out sooner than later.
