Mission Parivar Vikas

The Union Minister for Health and Family launched Mission Parivar Vikas on World Population Day (11th of July 2017) for better family planning services. The mission was launched with an objective to provide easy access to high-quality family planning alternatives based on reliable services, information and supplies with rights based framework.

What is Mission Parivar Vikas?

The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare in India has introduced Mission Parivar Vikas, a new initiative aimed at making family planning services more accessible for everyone. This initiative covers a range of components, from providing services to promoting awareness and ensuring that necessary resources are available. It also focuses on training healthcare workers, creating a supportive environment, and closely monitoring progress to effectively manage the Total Fertility Rate (TFR).

The ultimate aim of this initiative is to bring down the TFR to 2.1 by 2025. Mission Parivar Vikas is currently active in 145 districts across seven states, impacting a significant portion of the population, especially in areas with high TFRs.
