Force of Nature

Today I decided I will no longer be the things I am not.

I am not couth,

— not a prude

— not a bean counter, politician or a manager.

I am not an academic.

I am not a follower of rules for the sake of them,

— not convinced there is any one reality,

— not a believer in right or wrong.

I do not stick to any one plan.

It is not that I have pretended to be anything else so much as I took on things early and without realizing they were others’ expectations, my own internalized perceptions of what I probably should be.

Cause what I am is a Whirlwind.

A creator. A rebirther daily.

I don’t make promises. There are no promises to make.

Life gyrates. So do I.

I wears boots, short skirts, whatever I want

no matter how old I get.

I bang on drums and dance how it suits me.

I have words and words for the visions I see.

And I get paid to express myself.

The earth is my home, my solace, our every thing. I don’t take kindly to exploitation.

I believe in the freedom of expression.

I believe in our beautiful truths.

Unabashedly. Unapologetically.

— Whirlwind.
