Alcohol-Free Date Ideas in San Francisco

Let’s go beyond, “Let’s grab drinks.” 🙌

After our Rupa Health email on Why We Don’t Need to Drink Alcohol spread like wildfire, I got requests from tons of people on how to date sober in San Francisco. Here are my top ideas!

1. Places to Grab Tea.

  • The Mill: PIZZA! by the slice.
  • Arizmendi: Pizza! by the slice.

4. Free Activities

  • Ferry Building farmers market on Saturdays
  • Walk on Ocean Beach. Or bike through Golden Gate Park to Ocean Beach
  • Ferry Building Farmer’s Market on Saturday Morning / Afternoon
  • Check out the Wave Organ
  • Walk to Lands End
  • Watch sunset from Hawk Hill / Point Bonita Lighthouse
  • Vital Tea Leaf (Free Tea Tastings in Chinatown)

5. Exercise

  • Bike Golden Gate Bridge. Grab bikes from near Fisherman’s Wharf area. They also come with a 40% off Sports Basement coupon so you can go explore after!
  • Bike to Hawk Hill
  • Evening yoga class
  • Lululemon Run Club- The route varies but they leave Thursday mornings at 6:15am frmo. the Grant Avenue Store.

6. Experiences & Places

  • Off The Grid Presidio Picnic on Sundays
  • Giants Game
  • Alcatraz night tour (Note: this books out weeks in advance)
  • Improv show: BATS
  • Cobbs Comedy Club
  • Church of 8 wheels- rollerblading!
  • Off the Grid in the Fort Mason (Friday 5–10pm) — food trucks
  • Presidio Picnic — also Off The Grid food trucks (Sunday 11am-4pm)
  • Explore the Apothecary — twisted thistle & scarlet sage are open until 7PM
  • Walk up to Coit Tower in North Beach
  • View from Hawk Hill
  • Take a meditation or breathwork class
  • Make something at Woodshop
  • Bread making class at Tartine Manufactory or The Mill

  • Ride a little yellow GoCar
  • Do a Big Bus tour (I get made fun of for this so much, but honestly SO FUN!)
  • Cook at home :)
