I’ve always had entrepreneurial tendencies. It might be nature or nurture — I’ll probably never know. But what I do know is that every time I decided to undertake an entrepreneurial project, from selling candy in middle school to starting a to trying my hand at building a tech startup, I’ve focused on one thing: the results.

I spent time thinking about how to achieve the desired outcome — in most cases that outcome was profits.

Having your mind deeply rooted in the results or outcome of a project isn’t inherently bad. In fact, being clear about what you’re trying to achieve is one of the most important factors if you’re out to achieve great things.

The problem, however, arises when you forget about the grind, the work, the struggle, the climb, the marathon — and the blood, sweat, and tears that come with it. In other words, the process.

Neglecting the process and simply running toward the end goal is a surefire way to burnout and quit. But don’t worry — we all do it.
