Inception | Turning 30
I recently turned thirty on September 15, 2023, and this milestone feels different than any others. For me, it marks the end of an era where I could still be considered a youngster. It’s a realization that I’m no longer a boy but a man and there’s a sense of fear that comes with that realization. With this change comes a greater sense of responsibility towards not just myself but also my partner and anyone whose life I influence. The list of responsibilities seems endless and, therefore, I need to prioritize accordingly.
After just 2 days in my thirties, I want to share my thought process that has been affected by this milestone. You feel like you’re in your early 20s, and before you know it, you’re in your late 20s. But all the while, you tell yourself that thirty is still far away, and you can live life the way you want. Then as inevitably as it comes, you turn thirty, and it’s different. Ideally, age should be just a number, and you can live your life based on that number or be indifferent to it.
In the last two and a half years, I’ve transitioned to a focus on physical fitness with various ups and downs in terms of body fat, but in the last three months, I have been consistently working out. It’s a good transition for me as I enter my thirties, and I’ve listed some other points that I plan to focus on below.
- Becoming financially independent & having a runway of at least 1 year
- Speaking directly and to the point. Start speaking at first which I avoid
- Maintaining humility and avoiding getting angry, even when expressing harsh opinions
- Being a silent and calm rebel when necessary
- Avoiding consuming pointless or negative content, whether online or offline
- Avoiding masturbation until it’s necessary
- Eliminating all backlogs to live in the present
- Avoiding distractions during daily activities like eating, working, exercising, studying, etc.
- Sticking with your plan and avoiding getting distracted
- Improving English speaking skills
- Improving swimming technique
- Getting a flat stomach before reaching 31
- Reading and writing every day
- Studying something new every day
- Avoiding screen time as much as possible
- Carrying a notepad and pen everywhere
- Doing your own work whenever possible instead of outsourcing or delegating
- Keeping notepads in various places throughout the house to avoid using the phone for taking notes
The list of things to focus on may expand, improve, or change over time, but for now, let’s concentrate on it gradually, day by day.
This is my first step in journaling about my experiences, learning, the positive and negative moments of each day, and sharing it with others. My plan is to allocate at least an hour each day to writing and expressing my thoughts, learning something new every day, and becoming a better version of myself physically, mentally, and environmentally.
See you tomorrow!!
