The Enterprise Ethereum Alliance recognizes that certain applications which are typically implemented on private blockchains may benefit from the ability to interoperate with other systems and applications that are built on public Ethereum Mainnet. However, there are often technological, cultural, and/or educational difficulties in doing so. To address these, the Enterprise Ethereum Alliance Mainnet Working Group was formed in 2019 with the goal of “Making Mainnet ready for business and business ready for Mainnet.”

To help map out the application space to be explored, the Mainnet WG has formed the Enterprise Use Cases and Requirements Task Force. This TF aims to explore and document some of the most relevant use cases involving enterprise applications on Ethereum Mainnet, and identify requirements that can be shared with the community and used as a starting point for designing and building technical solutions to fill any existing functional gaps. A primary goal is to help align the allocation of resources (project funding, developer effort, etc.) in the Ethereum community with the needs of enterprise applications and developers.

In addition to exploring use cases that are already familiar to TF members, the TF is conducting an external survey of enterprises in order to find new applications and use cases, to prioritize them based on their feasibility, impact, and ROI, and to drill into specific functional and nonfunctional requirements. The information gathered by this TF is expected to help other task forces within the Mainnet WG to refine their strategies.

Companies currently participating in this TF include Anyblock Analytics, Atato, BlockApps, Chainlink, ConsenSys, Envision Blockchain, Ethereum Foundation, and Unibright. All EEA members are invited and encouraged to also participate!
