One week to go

So I am back in Montreal, where I am spending much of this summer in a writing and making retreat for Coney. After my time with Bernie in Indianapolis, I had a week’s further questing in the US in search of my Greek family and of the real Jimmy Stewart. This last week I have been digesting everything, and it’s a lot to digest… check out my previous posts here if you like.
But Bernie and I have been picking up conversations again since our week together. Strange to be back with him over the interweb after so much time in person, I genuinely miss his presence. And we’re wrangling, chipping away at the design. Perhaps not chipping so much as a stripping back, clarifying, trying to leave something most resonant.
And miraculously, with a week to go on the kickstarter, we have something to playtest :) and I might be doing that this evening with friends in Montreal.
I’m going to write most days this last week with a little reveal each day of one part of the game as currently envisioned
And for this first reveal, the game is going to arrive as a parcel, in the post, addressed to the host. Inside the parcel, another parcel, in fact a surprise parcel, only to be opened when players have gathered.
We’d talked a lot about how a legacy is a gift, but to unknown recipients in an unknown future. And a lot to be gleaned from understanding what makes a good gift. And perhaps there’s no better gift than a surprise…

Myself and Bernie De Koven are making a game of legacy, as one part of his brilliant playful legacy. Please spread the word on our kickstarter in this last week, 7 days to go -> www.bit.ly/agameoflegacy
