Feng Shui: Breaking Down the 5 Elements for Interior Design | Wood

Feng Shui is once again on my lips as we talk a little about the element Wood. It makes sense that this element brings the feeling of birth and growth. For me tons of wood around my designs makes me feel very overwhelmed like being alone in a forrest. Not enough can make me feel a tad empty. I have to admit wood furniture is amazing in a room so I can go a tad bit overboard. This element is easy for me to use often but I try and balance that out.

Fresh plants, trees and flowers are great to add to a room to bring out the Wood element. Also these items allow us to use color in the way that works for the room. Color is one of the elements in nature that I am drawn to in such a powerful way.

Cotten and natural fabrics allow us to use various textiles in a creative manner which can really bring out furniture. Most people do not associate cotton with the Wood element yet it is one of the standouts to bring this element out.

For you furniture designers the Wood element is pretty important but it can also be magnified by using column shapes which mimic tree trunks. Try this little trick to even feel more of this element. No columns in the piece below but I still love the visual.
