#12 Two-Taps and Done

I used to smoke. Thank goodness I don’t anymore. Not having to buy cigs or waking up to a sore throat and congested chest are the perks of not smoking. I can run farther and faster, too. I do get cravings when I drink, but now I don’t drink much either, so I seldom get cravings. It’s a win-win situation (another win for the running part). Now to lose some belly fat…

Smokers, drinkers, and runners are a tightly knit group. All three groups share a common activity that is enjoyed by the participants. These activities are not necessarily enjoyed by outsiders. Think about how smokers always go on breaks together and how close these people are, almost in an alliance. Topics are changed quickly when a non-smoker interrupts a smoking circle. Think about your merry drinkers. They get drunk together, happy together, and sometimes sad together. As a once avid drinker, my friendships became stronger over a drink. I’m starting to see strong cliques amongst the online running community as well.

I bring up these activities and groups to showcase Tatap’s usability. Tatap is great to initiate a conversation or an action by utilizing a relationship’s context. For example, when I tatap JS, it’s to let her know the time of our run. Had there been Tatap when I smoked, I would’ve used Tatap to signal that i needed a smoking break. In less than two taps, I am off to a run, or I could’ve went on a smoking break.
